~ FEAR
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
“No
passion so effectively robs the
mind of all its powers of
acting and reasoning
as fear.”
~ Edmund Burke
Every
single one of us is afraid of something.
- Fear
of rejection…
Fear
of
failure…
- Fear
of commitment…
- Fear
of not being enough…
- Fear
of not having enough...
|
|
|
Ironically,
90% of these fears that immobilize us are IMAGINED. They are
inventions of the mind, distortions that paralyze and prevent
positive change.

THE FEAR
“Nothing
is so much to be feared as fear.” ~ Henry
David Thoreau
|
|
American
writer and transcendentalist Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862)
once wrote those words in his journal while staying at
Walden Pond
for two years, two months, and two days. He wrote
poetry, chopped wood, and meditated on life.
It
is important for our physical health to work through the fears
of our lives. Noted self-healing advocate Dr. Andrew Weil
observed that the stress of holding fear inside could cause
various digestive symptoms, headaches, chronic pain, muscular
pain, skin problems, insomnia, anxiety, depression, and
frequent infections.

FEAR
OF THE UNKNOWN
“The
oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the
oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown.”
H. P. Lovecraft |
| Ever
notice how fearless
children
are? Children tell their parents
about their fear, are comforted, and go back out to play. Most
adults, on the other hand, have learned to hide fear, without
recognition or admissions. Facing fear is what
courage
is all
about. Accepting fear means taking control of it.

FEAR
NOTHING
“If
you fear nothing, you love
nothing. If you
love nothing, what joy can there be in life?”
~ Sean
Connery
|
| Actor
Sean Connery grew up in poverty and overcame his fears to
become one of the most famous celebrities in the world.
His heroic film characters define courage and strength by
boldly facing fear and taking
action
to
change.

BEHOLD,
WONDER
“He
has not learned the lesson of life who does not every day
surmount a fear.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson |
|
Overcoming
fear is a learned behavior. Just as everyone has a fear,
everyone can learn to overcome the fear. Admit to what
you’re afraid of. Admit it and you control it. Seek help or
validation and move forward.
“The
lens of fear,” said spiritual writer Charles R. Swindoll,
“magnifies the size of the uncertainty.”
Don’t
let fear paralyze you from taking action and achieving greater
job performance and personal satisfaction.

“Overcome
fear, behold wonder.” ~Richard Bach
