About
the Year of the Dragon:
The brilliant Chinese were the first calendar
creators. Their Lunar New Year began in 2600 B.C.
when Emperor Huang Ti introduced the first cycle
of the zodiac. A complete cycle takes 60 years
and is made up of five cycles of 12 years each.

The Year 2000 is the Year of the Dragon. Other
Dragon Years are 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976,
1988, 2000.
Many Chinese people believe that the
animal ruling the year of a person's birth has a profound
