October 20 ~  Goodness Is Its Own Reward Creativity Book

"If goodness is its own reward, shouldn't we get a little something for being naughty?" ~ Lauren Bacall

Oh goodness.

I'm not advocating sin, but there's nothing wrong with being a little naughty, taking life a little lighter, especially when you are looking for a way to feel better.

"I look better, feel better, make love better, and I’ll tell you something else… I never lied better," quipped comedian George Burns.

In times of trouble, we all look for a wee bit of comfort to make the heart glow...

"Luxury need not have a price, said designer Geoffrey Beene. "Comfort itself is a luxury."

Take the time to be selfish. Take a break from the images on TV and the daily grind. Just reward yourself, because you're worth it:

• Buy flowers;

• Experiment in the kitchen;

• Devour the biggest hot fudge sundae you can find;

• Blare some upbeat music;

• Splurge on a spa treatment with massage;

• Get tickets to a ballgame;

• Flirt with a stranger;

• Get out into nature--hike, bike, walk--and celebrate the glory of what's outside;

• Get a pedicure; and,

• Count your blessings. Isn't it wonderful to be alive?
