June 16 ~ If You Can Believe It
“If you can believe it, the mind can achieve it.”

On this day in 1902, Pepsi-Cola was officially registered with the U.S. Patent Office by pharmacist Caleb D. Bradham in New Bern, North Carolina.

With a mix of vision and experimentation—carbonated water, sugar, spices, juices, and rare oils—Bradham created what was first known as "Brad’s Drink." His invention, served at the back of his pharmacy, became a refreshment revolution.

As writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry put it: “A rock pile ceases to be a rock pile the moment a single man contemplates it, bearing within him the image of a cathedral.”

In 1898, Bradham renamed his creation Pepsi-Cola, a nod to pepsin and kola nuts. The name stuck, and the company flourished. By 1941, Pepsi had adopted red, white, and blue branding in support of American troops. Diet Pepsi launched in 1964. Youth-driven ads defined generations.

Today, PepsiCo is a global icon—a reminder that big things grow from belief and persistence. That even a backroom idea, born of passion and purpose, can one day refresh the world.
