April 15 ~  Affect the Immune System Immune System

"Hope, purpose and determination are not merely mental states. They have electrochemical connections that affect the immune system." ~ Norman Cousins

The immune system is a miraculous network of chemicals and cells, protecting the body against viruses, toxins, and bacteria.

A strong immune system with superduper lymphocytes (those specialized, tiny white blood cells) will prevent, battle, and stop cancer and other diseases.

"No human being is immune to adversity or personal setbacks," former First Lady Hillary Clinton once said.

We can't avoid adversity, but we CAN nourish and strengthen our immunity. How? Eat a diet rich in protein, fruit, and vegetables. Have a solid intake of daily vitamins B, E, and iron.

And don't forget the most important vitamin--vitamin C, that vital ingredient and potent antioxidant that researchers say may one day be used to help heal damaged hearts.

Other immune system boosters? Avoid stress, excercise regularly, ban cigarettes, and cut back on alcohol. Breathe! Echinacea and ginseng are said to be helpful health herbs, too.

Get rid of emotional toxins and visualize goodness. Become a joy expert and celebrate life! You are what you think.

"Love heals." explained physician and mind-body connection expert Bernie S. Siegel. "Love is the most powerful known stimulant to the immune system."

Keep hope and love alive.
